Writing Program

From foundational to top-level writing — Semonemo's step-by-step growth system built for clear results

From life in US schools (K–12) all the way to successful college admissions, English writing is one of the most important skills students need at every stage. Semonemo's writing program was created by an instructional design expert and is taught by current and former US public and private school teachers and professional English instructors. Many students have shown real progress, and our writing team keeps refining its instruction based on those results.

Our step-by-step growth system takes students from foundational writing to top-level writing. We teach students to apply the core writing elements expected at each grade level, building their confidence in English at school.

Writing meets twice a week: one main class (up to 5 students per group) and one 1:1 coaching session. The main class is led by the homeroom teacher, who teaches the writing content, and students review through homework afterward. Before the next class, each student meets 1:1 with a Writing Coach to go over their own writing and receive focused feedback.

Who Can Join

Students in Grades 1–8 who can participate in a class taught 100% in English.

Age and grade do not determine the class level. Students are placed into a level after a consultation based on their level test results.

Parent reviews

  • “Thank you for your hard work over the 20 weeks! … You understood my child's habits and personality so well. We've been with you since Level 3, and through writing my child is growing steadily in every area. Making mistakes and growing through class and homework, my child is building the ability to study independently — we're very satisfied.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “I worried a lot because my child reached the upper grades without ever properly learning to write, but lately I can feel how much their writing has grown. There's still a long way to go, but seeing my child enjoy classes with the teacher makes me even more excited for what's ahead.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “In their school writing class, students write paragraph by paragraph and can only move on once the teacher checks and passes it… For the first time, my child's introduction passed without a correction. My child was proud, saying their writing has improved.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “My child really enjoyed the classes, and the midterm report card at school showed a big improvement in writing. Thank you so much once again.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “Thanks to Semonemo, my child did well on the state test this year — including a perfect score in writing. I think it's because we stuck with Semonemo.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “My child was nervous before class, but said learning with friends — peer learning — was great. The class materials were so thorough that my child learns a lot just preparing for class.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “Seeing my child's skills build up with every level, both my child and I feel proud and grateful to the teacher.”

    Translated from Korean

  • “My child started Writing Level 6 at the start of 6th grade in the US. Writing had felt like a weak spot since grades 4–5, and I wanted to address it early, but I couldn't find a suitable program. After Semonemo's summer camp I heard about the writing class and felt it was exactly what my child needed. Writing doesn't improve overnight, so over 20 weeks of steady classes and feedback, the weak spots got filled in. As a result, my child gained confidence in English writing and now writes faster and more. After writing many kinds of essays, my child writes good, well-targeted essays without stress — not just in English but in every subject — and gets good results. I'm so grateful for the teachers' hard work.”

How classes work

Student page
After enrolling, you'll get a link to your child's student page. Join class, find class materials, and watch past class recordings — all in one place. Bookmark it on your child's device.
Homework
Each class's teacher shares homework and feedback.
Absences and make-ups
Missed classes still count toward your enrolled classes. For group classes, your child can catch up with the recording. If something comes up, please let the teacher know in advance — the teacher may not count the class or may schedule a make-up.
