Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
1. Who we are
Lunchbox Education LLC ("Semonemo," "we," or "us") operates semonemo.us and our online class services (classroom.semonemo.us and join.semonemo.us). This policy explains how we handle information about parents and students, including information that comes from children while they take part in classes and use the student page. Our Korea partner, Lunchbox Investment (런치박스투자), provides service information and customer support in Korea.
2. Information we collect and why

- Stripe processes card details; we never store full card numbers.
- Only parents have accounts. Children open their student page with a link we give to parents and are never asked for their own email address or phone number. Even so, children's information is created when they join classes, upload work, and use the student page, as listed above.
- Downloaded PDF materials carry the student's name as a watermark, to prevent redistribution.
- Please don't include unnecessary sensitive information, or information about other people, in homework or consultation attachments.
- We do not sell personal information, do not use children's information for advertising, and do not use recordings, transcripts, or submissions to train AI models. Our website does not use advertising or visitor-analytics trackers. If we plan to use information in a materially different way, we will update this policy first and ask for any consent required.
3. Children's information and parents' choices
Most of our students are under 13 (under 14 in Korea).
- A parent or guardian enrolls each child and, by enrolling, agrees to our collecting and using the information in Section 2 (including class recordings, transcripts, and submissions) as described in this policy.
- We collect only what classes reasonably require.
- Parents can ask at any time to review, correct, or delete their child's information, or to stop further collection and use, by contacting us at team@semonemo.us. We will take reasonable steps to confirm that the request comes from the parent.
- If you don't want your child to be recorded, contact us. We will explain the options available; if we can't provide the class without recording, we will refund the unused classes as described in our Terms of Service.
- Saying no to optional uses, such as sharing a student's writing publicly, never affects classes or feedback.
- If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or share children's information, we will ask parents for consent again before the change applies.
4. Who receives information
We share information only as described in this policy:
- The student's assigned teachers, program directors, and authorized staff, as needed for classes and support.
- Other students on the same class roster, and their parents, who can watch that class's recording for a limited time. Recordings are never made public.
- For students at an in-person Semonemo Center, that center's operator, as needed for its classes.
- The service providers listed below, which process information on our behalf to run the service. We do not allow them to use children's information for their own advertising or AI training.
- Others when required by law, or when necessary to protect someone's safety or to establish or defend legal claims.

5. Sharing student work
We share a student's writing on social media (such as Instagram) only with the parent's permission, which we ask for when the work is submitted. We remove the student's name and other identifying details. Parents can withdraw permission at any time by emailing team@semonemo.us, and we will remove the work from channels we control; copies others have already shared may remain.
6. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, up to these limits, and delete it sooner when a parent asks, unless the law requires us to keep it.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Parent accounts, student profiles, homework, feedback, and learning records | Up to 3 years after the last enrollment ends |
| Student page activity and access logs | Up to 1 year |
| Zoom recordings | About 15 days after class; students can watch for up to 10 days |
| Google Meet recordings | Up to 90 days after class |
| Zoom transcripts | Up to 1 year after class |
| Consultation forms and attachments | Up to 1 year after the consultation; if the student enrolls, only what teaching needs is kept, for the learning-record period |
| Payment and refund records | Up to 7 years after the transaction, for accounting and tax |
| Records of agreements and permissions | As long as the related account records |
| Account credit balances | The minimum account and transaction details needed while a balance remains |
If a legal obligation or dispute requires longer retention, we keep only what that purpose needs, restrict access to it, and delete it when the need ends. Database backups expire automatically after 7 days; if a backup is restored, we re-apply deletions. In a group recording we can't remove a single student, but we can delete the whole recording early when needed to honor a request.
7. Users in Korea and international transfer
We operate from the United States, and the providers in Section 4 process information in the countries listed there. When you use our service from Korea, the information in the table is transferred to those countries over encrypted connections at the time you use the service, for the purposes and retention periods described in this policy. This transfer is necessary to provide our online classes; you can refuse it by not using the service or by asking us to stop processing, in which case we may be unable to provide classes.
8. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your or your child's information, or withdraw consent, by contacting team@semonemo.us. Many details can also be updated on the parent page. We respond within the time required by applicable law and explain any lawful reason we cannot fully meet a request. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as data portability or the right to complain to a regulator. We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
9. Security and cookies
- Access to our database is restricted by role, and staff see only what they need for their work.
- We use encrypted connections, private file storage, and short-lived download links. Original class materials are never shared with students directly — only watermarked copies.
- No online system is completely secure; we will notify you as required by law if a security incident affects your information.
- We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your language. Blocking them may stop some features, such as signing in, from working. Embedded services (Zoom, Google Meet, Vimeo, YouTube) may set their own cookies when you use them.
10. Changes and contact
We will post changes on the website at least 7 days before they take effect and email parents about significant changes. A policy update does not by itself allow new uses of information collected before it.
