The Smart Reading program
“My child reads English books and does reading comprehension questions every day — so why aren't reading and writing improving?”
The most important part of improving reading and writing is learning ‘Reading Skills’ well and building a strong foundation. Reading skills are the ability to understand a text's main idea and meaning accurately and to infer word meanings from context.
Semonemo's writing experts designed Smart Reading to teach reading skills efficiently. Our reading educators help children read smoothly and infer word meanings from context.
Classes train children to read closely and attentively so they can answer questions and complete tasks afterward. The goal is for students to summarize the main idea and meaning in their own words, even with longer texts.
Through Smart Reading, students experience a wide range of books and build the following skills.
